Defective Bottles & Preform Bottle Recycling
Why Is This Type of Waste Worth Recycling?
In bottle manufacturing facilities, a significant amount of defective PET bottles and discarded preforms are produced during the injection molding and blow molding processes. These materials are not suitable for end use but are ideal for recycling:
Single-material composition
Typically made from pure PET, making them easy to process and regranulate.
Clean surfaces
No food or beverage contamination, simplifying the washing process.
Compact form
Preforms and non-inflated bottles take up less space and are easy to handle.
Cost already sunk
These are production rejects—recycling offers high returns compared to mixed post-consumer plastic waste.
Recommended Recycling Solution
To efficiently recycle defective PET bottles and preforms, we suggest the following process setup:
1. Crushing / Shredding System
Breaks down thick-walled preforms or defective bottles into uniform flakes.
Note: High-power crushers are recommended for dense or oversized materials.
2. Pelletizing System (Optional)
Connects directly to the downstream extrusion line to convert PET flakes into high-quality rPET pellets.
Ideal for customers with in-house pellet production needs.
