HDPE food bottles—such as milk jugs and cooking oil bottles—are common high-density polyethylene containers used for liquid food packaging due to their high strength and excellent processability.
However, these bottles often contain labels, grease, and food residues, making the recycling process more complex and demanding.
Boxin’s HDPE Bottle Recycling System is specially engineered for post-consumer food-grade HDPE bottles. It supports whole bottle feeding and offers a complete recycling solution including:
Automatic separation
Hot washing to remove oil and organic contaminants
Sink-float separation to isolate caps and labels
Efficient drying system
HDPE Food Bottle Recycling Process
1. Manual/Automatic Debaling (Optional)
Compressed HDPE bottle bales are unpacked to start the process.
2. Sorting System (Optional)
Separates colored bottles and contaminants for higher purity.
3. Metal Detector (Optional)
Removes ferrous and non-ferrous metals from the material stream.
4. Crushing (Crusher)
Bottles are shredded into small flakes for easier cleaning and processing.
5. Friction Washing (Optional)
Removes surface residues such as dirt, labels, and adhesives through high-speed mechanical scrubbing.
6. Hot Washing System (Optional)
Uses 90°C hot water combined with caustic solution to remove oils, grease, and sugars.
7. Sink-Float Separation Tank
Separates floating impurities like PP/PE caps and labels from heavier HDPE flakes.
8. Dewatering & Drying
Combines screw dewatering with hot air drying to achieve low moisture content.
9. Collection or Pelletizing
Clean, dry HDPE flakes can be bagged directly or fed into the pelletizing line for further processing.
